Turning Knowledge into Action

Strengthening collaboration across West Africa

In April 2025, URBANWaters supported its first on-site mission in Dakar, Senegal — bringing together project teams from Senegal, Mali, and Mauritania in partnership with BORDA.

For five days, engineers, operators, and planners worked side by side to:

  • Reflect on lessons learned from existing faecal sludge treatment plants in Mali,
  • Share technical concepts and operational models for upcoming plants in Senegal and Mauritania,
  • Advance multi-stakeholder planning processes and project implementation roadmaps.

This mission was more than a training — it was a space for collaboration where regional experience was exchanged, new partnerships were formed, and a common foundation was set for future sanitation projects.

By fulfilling our role as a technical advisor, we help partners connect and align their expertise — turning collective knowledge into impactful, sustainable infrastructure while building a network of professionals united around common values and objectives.

And this is just the beginning — our team will continue to assist the project teams both remotely and on-site as implementation moves forward.
